Tool #7 I movie

I went to Seville, Spain this summer and filmed a flamenco show. I used iMovie to create a video from the video clips taken on my camera. I am excited about using this video in the classroom to expose students to the the cultural components of language learning.

Tool #6 Wikis

Some of the imteresting aspects ofwikis are that students can share and collaborate information. Some of the ideas that I can incorporate into my classroom using wikis are:
  • A virtual art gallery with ongoing criticism and responses regarding artwork found online or originals from your art classroom (a cwitiqwiki).
  • A catalog of Spanish musical styles or musical instruments.
  • Collections of Spanish recipes for a family.
  • A collaborative project with speakers of a foreign language and in another location: A day in the life of an American/Japanese/French/German/Mexican family. (This one would require finding contacts in other locations, of course).
  • A movie review wiki for teens hoping to find the best date flick? (a Flickr?).

Tool #5 Social Networking

The two websites that I joined using diigo are:
1. Best spanish websites
http://www.uni.edu/becker/Spanish3.html

2. Study Spanish
http://www.studyspanish.com/tutorial.htm

Social bookmarking will be useful in my classroom because it can help me organize my bookmarks and will also help me keep up with those that I use in class and to plan lessons. Tagging also prevents you from browsing several of the same websites.

Tool #4

1. Google docs looks like a very interesting and efficient way to share information. I am familiar with Google Docs because the seventh graders used it this year in their LA/SS classes. I look forard to using Google Docs in my classes when doing projects, reports, etc.

2. I set up mu google reader and subscribed to the folowing blogs:
Shivani's Reflections
Elizabeth H
Dawson's Daily
Planet Mongo
Wegs Online

3. The google tools will aid in my classroom when doing various class projects. In the language classroom, the students are required to explore and use the language and culture in a variety of ways. Tools such as google docs will be an asset to the classroom.

Tool #3

I created a word cloud using wordle. This is a great tool in helping students use new vocabulary words.

I also created a glogster and posted the link onto my blog. Glogster is very interactive and a great way to get students involved in their learning.
Glogster can be used for various projects and gives students a wide range of choices in presenting their work.

Tool#2

1. I think that building a PLN is very beneficial for the students. It will give them an opportunity to think and create constructive comments. I also think it encourages autonomy and independent thinking.

2. From the commenting advice, I think it is important to show your own unique point of view while commenting.

3. For my five blogs I am following:
the french connection
Shivani's reflections
Elizabeth H
Dawson's Daily
Wegs Online

Tool #1

Getting started was fairly easy. I look forward to incorporating blogging in my classroom as a motivational tool in communicating and learning Spanish. Learning a foreign language can be intimidating and I think that blogging will give the students a more comfortable place to communicate with each other.

You will be writing posts about each of the Tools you investigate. For Tool #1, briefly describe the process you just underwent and how you might incorporate blogs in your classroom.
